I chose to study BA (Hons) Creative Writing with Film Industries (now known as BA (Hons) Screenwriting) after deferring for a year to take the time to really decide what I wanted to do at uni.

I studied a variety of creative subjects in college, and knew I wanted to continue with them, but I had no idea which subject was the right one for me. All I knew was that I wanted to stay at ´óÏó´«Ã½ because it was close to home and I loved the city, and I knew I could find the right course here – so I decided to attend another Open Day to help me choose.

After speaking to a current student on the course, I knew it was the one for me. I could see how passionate they were about the course and that was something I was looking for. I wanted to channel my passions into my own creative projects and it seemed like the perfect environment for me to explore my creativity and build my confidence. You could find yourself engrossed in fairytales and poetry one day, and making a short film the next – giving me room to explore my interests and narrow down my passions.

My path into digital marketing

Once I started the course and progressed further into my studies, I was able to mold the course to meet my specific interests, and this is where I eventually discovered the world of digital marketing.

At the time, I chose to study a film marketing module and blog writing module during my final year, as I wanted to learn about the digital world, get my work out there and connect with others. Studying these modules helped me realise the potential of digital marketing and its ability to create meaningful and impactful content.

This inspired me to start my own food blog where I was able to build on my skills in digital marketing and gain the knowledge to join the ´óÏó´«Ã½ marketing department as a graduate Web Editorial Assistant.

Exploring the range of marketing jobs for undergraduates

Starting this role, I quickly learned of the endless possibilities this career path has to offer. From video creation and photography to copywriting, content design and data analytics. Embrace new opportunities

When I began my course, I had no idea that my career would head in this direction. I unexpectedly found a new interest, leading to an exciting career that combines my creativity with a newly discovered skill I enjoy. I've been at the university for nearly 4 years, taking on various roles, and I'm now a Content Officer, primarily writing and designing content for the university website.
